The City of Colwich provides water and sewer service within city limits.

Water meters are ready on the 15th of each month, weather permitting. Utility bills are mailed the first business day of the month. Bills are due on the 15th of the following month. If a bill has not been paid by the 15th, a 2% penalty is added. If the bill is still unpaid by the 16th, a reminder notice will be mailed. Bills not paid by the 25th of the month will result in a service disconnection.

For water service, there is a $20 monthly charge plus a usage rate of $2.50 per thousand gallons of water used. New customers will be charged a $100 deposit. The deposit will gain interest during the first year of service, and if an account remains current for 12 consecutive months, the deposit will be credited back to the account with interest. If the customer moves before the year is up, the deposit will be refunded provided all charges have been paid.

The sewer user charge is based on average water consumption (AWC) during the months of December, January, February and March. Each customer's average winter consumption will be calculated in April of each year, based upon the preceding four months.

Other utility services such as natural gas, trash service, and cable television are provided by outside companies that maintain franchise agreements with the city. Please see our utilities page for information on these service providers.
