Planning has begun for a new park. Click the image below to enlarge it, or download a PDF file.

UPDATE
It may look like nothing is happening on the new park site, but change is coming! The hike/bike path is mostly designed and it will be diagonal across the park, along the west side of the pond from 53rd Street over to 167th Street. That project should be bidding early in 2008 and will be overseen by the Kansas Department of Transportation because the city was awarded a KDOT grant. The city tree farm is doing nicely, and we hope when the hike/bike path is complete we'll have some nice little trees to transplant. The city has signed a contract with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to stock the pond with catfish during the summer. We will begin establishing food sources and building fish habitats under their direction in the next few months.

The next step will be the Ball Club negotiating with the Renwick School District for the sale of Memoiral Field, and when that is complted the new Memorial Fields will begin design. The City and Ball Club will be working togethe on this first phase. The park development committee also is starting a "Wish Book" that will be available for donors to choose items they would like to provide for the park. These will include everything from benches to light fixtures to a complete ball diamond, if a family wants to purchase a "legacy" in their name. The Committee also continues to search and apply for grants, and will start some fundraising projects soon.

Change is coming, and you can be part of it!
